"Edison's 'Open Road' is an upbeat piece of acoustically-inclined folk, all harmonicas and hand claps and good cheer."–PopMatters

"The nine-track effort... captures exactly what the band’s been doing the last 12 months: bringing music to life."–Consequence of Sound

Familiar Spirit album artwork

Coming off its New York residency in June and July, Denver trio Edison is premiering new single "Open Road" via PopMatters. "Open Road" is the third single from forthcoming debut album Familiar Spirit, out September 16 via Rhyme & Reason Records (The SuffersFiction Plane). The uptempo song comes after previous single premieres on Consequence of Sound and AfterEllen.

"Open Road" is an ode to the nomadic lifestyle of constant touring that Edison leads. The song is one of Familiar Spriit's most upbeat and high-energy, a proper reflection of Edison's beloved live show. It's fitting for Edison's current circumstance: the band is, as always, touringly extensively throughout the US. Edison is in the midst of a short string of dates, including an appearance at Divide Music Festival this Friday (Blondie, Passion Pit). Following that is a massive cross-country tour opening for Jared and the Mill. Full dates can be found below.
